Business FAQ
Ideally we will do your maternity photoshoot when you are between 7 and 8 months pregnant. This is when you are still feeling comfortable and able to move around easily.
I'll capture beautiful photos of you, in glowing health, with natural poses in your home or we can set up a mini studio at mine.
If you'd like a studio shoot with props, there are photographers who specialise in this style.
Do you remember paging through old photo albums of great great grandma and grandpa?
These photographs are priceless records of your ancestry - a visual story of where you come from, and it's a wonderful role that each generation can take on, to document the family history.
Tracing our heritage is a wonderful way of knowing our roots - having a deep sense of our family identity. Knowing ourselves is our greatest gift we can give to ourselves and to our families so we live our most authetic lives. Having photographs that document the steps in our life journey is absolutely priceless.
It's an investment in your past, for your present and held in trust for future generations.
A professional photographer has a passion and an eye for their craft. We are constantly honing our skills and techniques, working with light to create the most beautiful and natural photographs to bring out the very best in you and your family. Photographs are like heirlooms and when you hire a professional photographer, you are investing in a very special gift that lasts many lifetimes.
We all invest in professional equipment - high-end cameras and pro lenses to ensure the images we produce are of the highest possible quality.
We train in post-production software to re-touch your photgraphs. I take great care to store and backup our client images across multiple hard drives in more than one physical location, to ensure your photographs can be retreived if you lose them.
I hold professionally insurance, in case anything were to go wrong at any stage of our professional work.
You are in safe hands, and a professional photographer wants the best for you. It's often the case that we document your life's journey and all the milestones you and your kids achieve, and special occasions shared...if we are lucky enough to work together through the years.

These days, many people prefer a portrait that speaks to who they are, and captures their uniquess as an individual.
Traditionally, headshots have been in a studio with controlled lighting and this is perfect if you want formal adult portraits. There are many photographic studios that do this style of photography. I take a far more natural approach.
For our photoshoot, we can set up a mini studio if you need a white background, or we can choose a location that is special to you - where you feel the most relaxed and comfortable, so we can capture the essence of you.
For more information on styles, see the question: "What style should we choose for our Headshots?"

I recommend you do your research. Most photographers have a portfolio online, and you will quickly be able to see what style you like, and what you don't. It's always good to either have a chat on the phone with a few photographers to see if you'll get on with them, or meet them for a coffee/tea if they are able to do so. You want someone who will make you feel relaxed and bring out the best in you!
Choosing the right photographer is so important, as you are investing in wonderful memories that will last a lifetime, or indeed many lifetimes!
There are wonderfully creative people in this world and everyone has a unique style - some photographers use a studio and others prefer shooting at your home or a location that is special to you.
Take your time to consider the different photographers you’ve spoken to, and what each offers before you make your decision. It can seem overwhelming, but after looking at their portfolios and talking to them on the phone, you'll instinctively know who you feel the most comfortable with.
I know how important it is to see your photohgraphs as soon after the shoot as possible!
Between one to two weeks after your session, I’ll give you access to your private online gallery. I will have uploaded the fully edited photographs from your session, and can choose your favourite pictures.
Your online gallery will be live for 7 days whilst you choose your photographs, and during this time please give me a call to chat about the photos. I am here to help.
If you'd like to create a gallery wall or have orints framed, we can discuss the best way to present your photos. I offer a framing service in addition to the digital photographs - black or white, or acrylic or my signature printing style, on aluminium.
Once you've decided on your photos, you can place your order and make payment. Once payment is received, I will send over your digital images within 24 hours, and printed items will follow as soon after as possible. Please allow 4-6 weeks.
That depends on how many Headshots we need to shoot for your business needs.
If we're doing a relaxed session within your business, using different locations, it will take longer than a setup studio-type shoot.
Fos a studio-type shoot, I work on an average of 6 people and hour. This allows for 10 minutes of setting up and making your team member feel at ease, and explaining how best to capture them with the light and what they're wearing etc.
Allowing 10 minutes per person will give you around 48 people in a normal 8 hour day, or 24 people in a half day.
Mums and dads seem to choose these times to capture memories of their children:
- Newborn - 3-5 days old when they're sleepy, curled up and very tiny.
- During your baby’s first year – when they're still little, before they change too much!
- Between age 1 and 2 years – this is when your little one(s) are still small, but are far more co-ordinated, can hold their heads up and their unique personalities are starting to shine.
- Between age 4 and 5 years – when your little one starts school, or just before.
- Between age 5 and 6 years – I often hear that parents want to have a photoshoot before toothy grins take over the photos!
- Teenagers – this is a great time to capture your lovely children - you may wish to update your family photos from their childhood, have an extended family shoot withy cousins, aunties and uncles, and grandparents, or have a shoot before your kids leave home on their own adventures!

As soon as you have a due date, get in touch with me to book your session. The best time to do your photoshoot is when your little one is between 5 and 14 days old - that gorgeous sleepy stage, when they are curled up and so tiny!
Within 3 weeks, they will have grown significantly, and it's lovely to capture your baby at this very early stage.
I do naturally beautiful shots that capture the essence of you and your newborn baby - if you'd like a setup studio shoot with props, there are photographers who specialise in this photography.

The best is for me to capture engaging photos of your kids in an environment where they feel comfortable and secure, so we can create lasting memories of them laughing in a park, walking by the river, on the beach, in woodland or playing in your garden or home - the location choice is yours.
To get the most out of your photoshoot, the kids must be having fun, and with you and your partner feeling happy and relaxed, we'll capture gorgeous photos of everyone.
There may be a location fee for the photoshoot, so please let me know where you'd like to have your photos taken, and we can check what's required.
Most newborn photoshoots are of your baby in their birthday suit, and then photographed in a blanket or wrap that's neutral in colour.
If you'd like your baby to wear an outfit, it would be helpful if you could send me a picture of it before the shoot, so I can make sure we have the best background colour to complement it.
Neutral and simple colours are the best, so the focus is on your baby and not their clothes.
If you have something of sentimental value that you'd like in a photograph, like a specially knitted or crocheted blanket or outfit for your baby, let me know.
Just so it's easy for me to undress your little one without disturbingtheir sleep, dress them in a front fastening sleep suit, with no vest underneath.
Every photographer works differently. I like to charge a session fee which covers our time together, my equipment and travel, and ALSO guarantees that you have a great selection of digital photographs from your photoshoot that you love and will treasure forever.
If you do not like any of your photos at all, I offer a 100% money back guarantee. I want you to fall in love with your photos and remember our photoshoot with pride.
Every business has their own "voice" so to speak. I will ensure that your business headshots covey the ethos and style of your business to your clients, to be in complete synergy with your brand identity.
On Location
Shooting corporate headshots on location give your business a sense of place and context - and they are becoming very popular. The background is blurred into soft focus, whilst your staff member's headshot is crisp and sharp. The location could be at a person's desk, against an outside wall - whatever location you feel is best to show off your business.

Your Office
Your business will be the studio - I will come to you - it saves so much time for your busy employees. We will need a room which has good natural light, with a cleared space, and no other people working in it, so I can work with each person individually.

White Background
If you'd like a white background to your images, this is easily done - it's the more formal and traditional approach. It allows for the image to be "cut out" and used easily in print/PR packs. With a transparent background, the headshot can then be placed on any image or colour background, should you need the image for specific publicity materials with ease using online tools like Canva.
To set up for photos on a white background, I will need a room with a space of around 3 metres by 5 metres to work within. For photos with the working office in the background, a space of around 3 x 3 metres is usually fine.
Every photographer works differently. I charge a session fee which covers my time, equipment and travel, and then you choose the digital photographs you will love and treaure forever.
If you do not like any of your digital files at all, I offer a 100% money back guarantee. I want you to fall in love with your photos and remember the day as a wonderful experience - a gift to yourself.

As a professional photographer, I am fully insured for my work. Should anything go wrong on a photshoot either at your home or on location, I have £2 million in Public Liability Insurance and £25,000 of Professional Indemnity Cover.
Please don't hesitate to ask me for my certificate as proof of insurance.
If I'm coming to you, you will have everything you need at home.
If you're coming to me, bring a change of clothes for you and your partner to wear in the family photographs.
If you'd like to touch up your makeup, please bring this along.
For you little one, it's helpful to bring:
- A few extra nappies than normal (in cae they have a few accidents)
- If you're breastfeeding, more bottles than you would normally use, just in case!
- To settle your baby between positions, please bring a dummy if that's how they soothe themselves.
- If they have a special cuddly toy or bear that they sleep with, bring that along too.
Selecting a photographer is a deeply personal choice, and I want you to fall in love with your photos and remember the photoshoot as a great experience. We're working as a team to capture the best shots to promote your business.
I charge a session fee which covers our time together, my equipment and travel, and ALSO guarantees that you have a great selection of digital files from your photoshoot that you love and will be able to use in all your marketing and promotion of your business. But what if you don't like your images?
You can book with complete confidence. If you don't love the images I take during your business photoshoots, I will absolutely give you 100% of your money back, no questions asked.
My goal is to have happy returning customers, and I want you to love the set of impactful images we create together. You can book with 100% confidence.
Wear what best portrays the "voice" of your business. To get the most authentic looking photos, everyone needs to feel confident and comfortable in what they are wearing.
If your business Headshots might be displayed on the same page and with a specific brand identity to convey, you don't want everyone to clash.
Classic simple styles work best.
Very bright colours, large patterns, slogans etc detract from the person, unless this is the style and look you wish to achieve.
Wear well fitted clothing for a more flattering look.
Softer neutral shades are best, or if you want a high energy image, red is a power colour. Black and white colour tops do work, and are more formal.
Choose a neckline that you like, and bring a selection if you're unsure.
- Round necks are good for those who have longer necks. Don't make them too high.
- V-necks are great for bringing focus onto your face, and for those who are more petite.
- Off-the-shoulder tops are good for women, but be careful they are not too low cut.
Shirts - for a more formal look
Ties (men) - if you want a more corporate look
Shoes - Most portraits are only the head, neck and shoulders, so shoes aren't iportant, but women may wish to wear a slight heel to give good posture.
Outdoor shoots
If we're doing an outdoor shoot, bring thin warm layers. It can get chilly and we need you to look relaxed and comfortable. A coat or jacket for the outdoor shots can look great, especially slung over the shoulder for a casual look. If you're wearing a suit, then wear a warm layer under your shirt if possible.
We can also discuss this in a pre-session phone call to help you decide on your business branding and what colours would suit the "voice" of your business.

I am a National Trust member, so I am able to enter with my membership. If you'd like a photoshoot there, you will need to cover your entrance fee(s).
Photographers often have to pay a location fee for specific locations, so when you are doing your research on your photographer ask if a location fee is included in the outdoor photoshoot price. This is entirely dependent on the location.

Within the M25, travel costs are included in the photoshoot price. I am London-based.
If you have chosen a location that's further away or requires paid parking, we'll chat about it. You may want to do your shoot in Dorset, or book me for a weekend, so it entirely depends on the shoot. I generally add 40p a mile and any parking charges, and we'll discuss a driving rate if this is required.
Once you have decided on your final photos in your album, I will send you an invoice, and once payment has been made via a direct bank transfer, I will make sure you have the high resolution files safely transferred to you within 24 hours.
If you have asked for prints, I will let you know the lead time - it's usually 4-6 weeks, hopefully less!

I recommend you all wear outfits that you feel really comfortable in - where you can move freely and feel your most authentic selves.
As you choose your family’s outfits it's worth thinking about the following:
- Choose a colour scheme that brings you all together. The photographs will work better together.
- Keep it simple - select a maximum of 2-3 colours that works for everyone.
- Neutral and pastel colours work best for newborn baby photographs – soft pinks, greens, blues, yellows, greys, whites, creams.
- Avoid big patterns, bright colours and clashing outfits, so we focus on you and the family, not the clothes.

Only if you give me permission to do so.
In order for you to choose a photographer, it's really useful to be able to see photographs from previous photoshoots. It gives you an idea of my style and technique.
I take your privacy very seriously, and will only publish pictures in my online portfolios with your express permission. If you do give permission for your pictures to be shared, there will be no names on the photgraphs.
When you book your session, please let me know if you're happy for your photos to be placed in my online portfolio or not. Either way, that's absolutely fine.

I certainly do - I work with each one of my clients to ensure we have a photoshoot that works with everyone's budget.
Please get in touch to discuss your event requirements.
Don't stress - we will take photos of your little one with their eyes open and when they feel relaxed and sleepy, they'll settle eventually. We will be led by your newborn's schedule.
If they need a nappy change, a feed, and cuddles, there is no rush. We will work to their timetable and capture the most wonderful photographs.
Your photoshoot will be just after you have had your little one. Don't worry, your body has been through an incredible time of change, and you are not alone. Many of your special outfits may not fit. Just select something that's comfortable and you feel good in.
To ensure your baby is warm enough during the shoot, we want to keep the space warm, so wear something cool for you.
It's so lovely to share this photoshoot with siblings and your partner if you can. Neutral or gentle colours are always best - choose 2-3 colours that work together for you and your family.
No bright colours, big patterns or clothes with words on them - we want the focus to be on you, your newborn and your family, not the clothes you're wearing.
It's entirely your choice. We can do your Maternity photoshoot at my home with a mini studio, or at your home - wherever you feel most comfortable.
Weather permitting, we may be able to take photos outdoors. When we have our pre-session chat on the phone, we will discuss all the options and what your vision is for your photoshoot.
I capture natural and beautiful shots. If you would like a setup studio shoot with props, there are photographers who specialise in this style of photography.
That depends on the time of year!
Dress for the weather and the location - if it's hot, then wear shorts and summery dresses, but bring layers to make your photos look interesting. If your location is with a National Trust property in the background, you may want smarter clothes than if you're being photographed in your local park.
If it's Spring or Summer, think of neutral colours and pastels that work well with Mother Nature! Autumn, you may want to match the leaves. Soft colours - browns, creams, pinks and soft blues, teal and green as well as richer colours like rusty red and mustard work well.
Layers and accessories work well An extra vest or t-shirt underneath your outfits, and cardigans, gilets, jackets or scarves
Make sure everyone is dressed in a similar way so nobody looks out of place, and ensure the kiddies clothes fit well, so they don't trip or look lost in their clothes.
Dress in plain colour clothes or with little prints - no large patterns, logos or writing, black or garish colours. You want to bledn in with the outdoor environment for best results.
Before your photoshoot, we will have discussed what you need them for and we will have chosen either a studio setup or a loction for your shoot, or both for the different uses you require.
I'll email you a link to your private online gallery where you can take your time viewing all the best images from your shoot. If you're struggling to choose, we can have a chat and I can help you with my suggestions.
Once you have selected the photos you want, and made payment, I will make the digital photos available to you within 24 hours.

Black and white colour tops - yes! Also bring softer neutral shades for a softer look and if you're going for high energy, red is your power colour. Bring a variety of colours.
Bring a selection of tops with different necklines.

We can also discuss this in a pre-session phone call to help you decide on your outfits.

Pets complete a home - they too have lives worth celebrating, intertwined with our own.
Pets show us unconditional love - something us mere humans aspire to. Pets make us better people and they deserve to have their lives documented, playing such an important role in our own lives as our best friends who always have a hug for us whenever we need it, or want to play at all times!

When you employ me to take Marketing and PR photos, I capture the look and feel of your business - your authentic brand identity.

These shots can be used in advertorial, in Social Media marketing campaigns, on Annual Reports or in press articles to give your business publicity.

As your professional photographer, I will attend your conference or business event and work very discreetly to capture the proceedings without disrupting the day or making any attendee feel self-conscious.

I need the date of your special occasion, the location, the style of it, time of the celebration, and how many guests.
Give me 5 words that best describe you/your outlook on life and any details of what this occasion means to you, so I have a better idea of the vision you have for your special occasion.
I can then give you a quote based on a tailormade package, specially for you.
I'll need the date and location of your event, details of the event, your vision, event coverage start and end times (pre event to packing up, or anything in between)
The more detail you can provide about your event, including the type of activities that are planned and if you have specific actsyou absolutely need covering, or sponsors that you need highligjtinge etc, let's delve into the detail.
I can then give you a bespoke quotation based on your specific requiements.
I can come to your home or we can do the photoshoot in their favourite park where you usually take them walking, or at a location where they love to play.
Please contact me for a chat about your pet's personality, any quirks they may have and what they love (or not).
Bring their favourite toy(s) and treats with you, so we can get the best photographs of them on the day.

I've a selection of pricing packages to suit every budget, or we'll create a bespoke package especially for you.
